In the bustling town of Rainbow Village, Officer Friendly was on her daily patrol when she heard a small “woof!” Coming from behind a colorful fire hydrant was a tiny puppy with floppy ears and no collar.
“Oh, you poor thing,” said Officer Friendly, scooping up the puppy. “Let’s find your family!”
She started by driving through Lollipop Lane, asking everyone she met if they recognized the puppy. But no one did. Then she tried Bubblegum Boulevard and Peppermint Place, but still no luck.
Officer Friendly didn’t give up. She took the puppy to the Rainbow Village Pet Shop, hoping someone there might know the pup. The shopkeeper, Mr. Whiskers, examined the puppy closely.
“This little one looks like it might live on Cupcake Street,” he said. “They love spotty puppies there!”
Excited by this clue, Officer Friendly drove to Cupcake Street. She went door to door, showing the puppy to every family, but nobody recognized it.
Just as she was about to leave, she noticed a “Lost Puppy” poster on a lamp post. The picture looked just like the puppy she’d found! But the address on the poster was for Marshmallow Avenue, clear on the other side of town.
Officer Friendly drove as fast as she safely could to Marshmallow Avenue. When she arrived, she saw a little girl sitting on her front steps, looking very sad.
“Excuse me,” said Officer Friendly. “Is this your puppy?”
The little girl looked up, her eyes widening with joy. “Sprinkles!” she cried, jumping up. “You found him!”
As Sprinkles licked the girl’s face, she explained how he had run away while chasing a butterfly. Officer Friendly smiled, happy to have solved the mystery.
“Remember,” she told the little girl, “always keep a close eye on your pets. And if you ever need help, the police are here for you!”
The girl hugged Sprinkles tight and thanked Officer Friendly. As she drove away, Officer Friendly felt proud. It had been a long day, but she had reunited a family and that made it all worthwhile.
From that day on, whenever anyone in Rainbow Village lost something precious, they knew they could count on Officer Friendly to go above and beyond to help them find it.
