The birthday party nobody came to

Once upon a time, there was a young girl named Sarah. She was turning eight and was so excited to invite her whole class to her birthday party. She spent weeks planning and preparing for the big day, making sure everything was perfect.

The day of the party arrived, and Sarah woke up early, dressed in her new party dress, and waited eagerly for her classmates to arrive. But as the minutes ticked by, nobody showed up. Sarah sat alone in her living room, her heart sinking with disappointment. She couldn’t believe that nobody cared enough to come to her party.

Feeling sad and alone, Sarah went outside to play. Her neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, saw her sitting alone and could tell something was wrong. They asked her what was wrong, and Sarah told them about her party.

“Oh, sweetheart, we’re so sorry,” said Mrs. Smith, giving Sarah a hug. “We’ll make sure you have a special day, no matter what.”

The Smiths decided to do something special for Sarah. They went around to all of their friends and asked them to send Sarah birthday cards. They told everyone they knew about Sarah’s party and how nobody had shown up and if they could come by for a little bit. While Sarah was playing in the garden, suddenly people started showing up to her party. Sarah was very happy she could share her birthday cake with all these people.

And days after her party, Sarah started to receive cards in the mail. She was surprised and happy to see so many people had thought of her. The cards were filled with kind words and birthday wishes, and Sarah felt her spirits lift. Sarah received hundreds of cards from people all over the country. It was the best birthday she had ever had. She felt loved and cared for, and the sadness she had felt earlier had disappeared.

The next year, Sarah’s birthday rolled around again. She decided to invite her classmates to her party again. And this time, her classmates came! They had heard about what had happened the previous year and didn’t want Sarah to feel left out again. They brought presents, balloons, and birthday cake, and they had a great time together. It turned out to be a huge party, because all the grown ups from last year also showed up. It was the biggest party anyone had ever seen!

Sarah was so happy that she had friends who cared about her and wanted to be with her. She realized that sometimes, the best things in life come from the most unexpected places. And she was grateful to her neighbors, the Smiths, who had made her birthday special, even when nobody else had shown up.
