St. George And The Dragon (Short Version)

Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there lived a kind king and queen who had a beautiful baby boy. One night, a mischievous fairy sneaked into the castle and swapped the baby prince with her own tiny, grumpy fairy baby. She took the prince and left him in a field.

The next morning, a gentle farmer named Georgos was plowing his field when he heard a soft cry. He found the baby prince lying in the furrow. Georgos took the little boy home and raised him as his own, calling him George.

As George grew up, he became brave and strong. He dreamed of becoming a knight to help those in need. One day, he set off on a grand adventure. Along the way, he met a beautiful princess named Una. She was sad because a terrible dragon was causing trouble in her kingdom.

“Will you help me defeat the dragon?” Una asked.

“Yes,” George replied. “I will fight the dragon and bring peace back to your land.”

Together, they traveled to Una’s kingdom. But along the way, a tricky witch tried to stop them. She pretended to be nice and even made George forget about Una for a little while. But soon, George realized the witch was up to no good. He escaped her clutches and found Una again.

Finally, they reached Una’s kingdom. From a distance, they could see the dragon resting near a shining tower. The dragon was huge, with scales that glittered like gold and wings that spread wide like sails. It roared so loudly that the ground shook.

George turned to Una. “Stay here where it’s safe,” he said. “I will face the dragon.”

Bravely, George approached the dragon. The dragon roared and breathed out a burst of fiery smoke. George held up his shield with the red cross and charged. The battle was tough. The dragon was strong, but George was clever.

At one point, the dragon knocked George down. He fell near a magical stream, and when he touched the water, he felt his strength return. With renewed courage, George stood up and faced the dragon once more.

With a mighty swing of his sword, George struck the dragon. The dragon roared one last time and fell to the ground. The people cheered from the towers, and Una clapped her hands with joy.

The king and queen were overjoyed. “Thank you, brave knight!” they exclaimed. “You have saved our kingdom!”

As a reward, George and Una were married in a grand celebration. The kingdom was filled with music and laughter. Everyone lived happily ever after, and George became known as a true hero.

And that’s the story of how brave George defeated the dragon and brought peace to the land.
