Once upon a time, there was a boy named Mick. Every year during Easter, Mick and his family would gather on his uncle and aunt’s farm, where they would spend the weekend together. Mick always looked forward to this special weekend with great anticipation.
As soon as he arrived at the farm, Mick’s excitement began to grow. He could see his cousins running around the fields, and he could hear their joyful laughter. “Hey, Mick!” one of his cousins called out as he saw Mick’s family pull up in their car. “We’ve been waiting for you! Let’s go feed the baby chicks.”
Mick’s eyes sparkled with delight, and a huge grin spread across his face. He got out of the car and ran towards his cousins, eager to join in on the fun.
Throughout the weekend, there were many special Easter games to play. The family had an egg toss competition, and Mick’s team won! They also played egg races, where the cousins had to run while holding an egg on a spoon, and the first to cross the finish line without dropping it was the winner. Everyone cheered when Mick’s little sister won the race! And of course, the big egg painting contest. All the kids and adults sat around a big table outside in the sun, painting their egg in pretty patterns and colours. They added stickers and glued glitters on the eggs too. It was a huge mess, but a lot of fun.
One of the highlights of the weekend was the huge Easter brunch that was held on Sunday morning. All the moms and dads got up early to each prepare a special dish. There were all kinds of delicious foods, from ham and eggs to fresh fruit and homemade pastries. Mick’s aunt had even made a special Easter cake, decorated with pastel-colored frosting and tiny candy eggs.
After brunch, the family held an Easter cookie bake competition. Each family member got to decorate their own batch of sugar cookies with frosting and sprinkles. Mick’s cookies turned out to be the best in the competition, and he felt proud when his cousins complimented him.
Finally, it was time for the chocolate egg hunt. Mick and his cousins ran around the farm, looking for brightly colored eggs hidden in bushes, trees, and other hiding spots. They laughed and joked with each other, calling out when they found a hidden egg. One of the cousins even found the golden egg, which meant she got an extra special treat!
As the weekend came to a close, Mick felt a tinge of sadness. He didn’t want to leave the farm and say goodbye to his cousins. “I wish we could stay longer,” he said to his mom as they packed up the car.
“I know, sweetie,” his mom replied. “But we’ll be back next year, and we’ll have just as much fun then. And don’t forget, we still have to take our yearly family portrait before we leave!”
The whole family got together and hugged each other. “Say cheese!” his uncle said, as he ran to his spot after setting up the camera.
Mick smiled, feeling grateful for the wonderful memories he had made with his family. He knew that, no matter what, he would always cherish these special Easter weekends on the farm.
