Chicken Little

Have you ever heard the story of Chicken Little, who caused a commotion in the whole neighborhood with her foolish panic?

Well, it goes like this: Chicken Little was running around in a garden where she didn’t belong. She ran under a rose bush and a leaf fell on her tail. She was so scared by this that she quickly ran off to Henhouse.

“Oh Henhouse,” she said, “the sky is falling!” “But Chicken Little, how do you know that?” “I heard it with my own ears, saw it with my own eyes, and felt it on my tail.” “In that case,” said Henhouse, “let’s get out of here as fast as we can.”

So they both ran until they met Lucky Duck. “Oh Lucky Duck,” said Henhouse, “the sky is falling!” “How do you know that?” asked Lucky Duck. “Chicken Little told me.” “How do you know that, Chicken Little?” “I heard it with my own ears, saw it with my own eyes, and felt it on my tail.” “Oh no, let’s run then,” said Lucky Duck.

And so they ran on until they met Dancing Goose. “Oh Dancing Goose,” said Lucky Duck, “the sky is falling!” “But Lucky Duck,” said Dancing Goose, “how do you know that?” “Henhouse told me.” “Henhouse, how do you know that?” “Chicken Little told me.” “But Chicken Little, how do you know that?” “I heard it with my own ears, saw it with my own eyes, and felt it on my tail.” “Run, run! As fast as you can,” cried Dancing Goose.

And they started running again until they met Turkey Lurkey. “Oh Turkey Lurkey!” said Dancing Goose, “the sky is falling.” “But Dancing Goose,” said Turkey Lurkey, “how do you know that?” “Lucky Duck told me.” “Lucky Duck, how do you know that?” “Henhouse told me.” “But Henhouse, how do you know that?” “Chicken Little told me.” “Chicken Little, how do you know that?” “How can I not know it?” said Chicken Little. “I heard it with my own ears, saw it with my own eyes, and felt it on my tail.” “Oh, come quickly, run!” said Turkey Lurkey.

All of them started running in blind panic until they met Sly Fox. “Oh Sly Fox!” said Turkey Lurkey, “the sky is falling.” “From whom did you hear that?” said Sly Fox. “Dancing Goose told me,” said Turkey Lurkey. “From whom did you hear it, Dancing Goose?” “Lucky Duck told me.” “And who told you, Lucky Duck?” “Henhouse told me.” “And from whom did you hear it, Henhouse?” “Chicken Little told me.” “Chicken Little, how do you know it?” “I heard it with my own ears, saw it with my own eyes, and felt it on my tail.” “Oh, hurry,” said Sly Fox, “come quickly into my den!”

Sly Fox opened the door of his den and Turkey Lurkey ran inside. As she entered, Sly Fox quickly ate her up. Then Dancing Goose went in and she too was eaten. Then came Lucky Duck, and Sly Fox ate her too. Then came Henhouse, and she was eaten as well. Finally, Chicken Little followed and she too was eaten. All of them were now eaten by Sly Fox, and all because of Chicken Little’s foolish fear.
